Eleven years ago one summer night in NYC, Dori happened to be walking by Lincoln Center, where the Mid-Summer Night’s Swing, an outdoor lindy hop dance party was in full swing, and she was hooked! She hosted NYC’s first “crossover” dance at the Alger Mansion, for both lindy hop & west coast swing dancers. Her dance party called “Swingin’ the Blues”, was moved to The Manhattan Penthouse, a stunning venue overlooking many of NYC’s colorful landmark buildings. Lindy hop legends Frankie Manning & Dawn Hampton as well as top west coast swing dancers like Robert Royston, John Lindo, Angel Figueroa, Michael Norris, Beata Howe & Sylvia Sykes regularly attended and performed at Dori’s dance.
Dori has been competing at national west coast swing events for nine years, taking numerous trophies home with her over the years. Dori is excited to share her love of dance by teaching free beginner dance classes to teens and young adults who might not otherwise be able to afford them.
